University of Arkansas - Fayetteville He took a giant stride toward the starting quarterback position with a solid spring. The only scholarship signal caller to participate in spring drills, he will compete for the starting nod with junior Robby Hampton, who is recovering from off-season shoulder surgery. 2000: He played in six games as a freshman quarterback. He started against Ole Miss and Mississippi State. On the season, he completed 28 of 68 pass attempts for 321 yards and one touchdown. He was intercepted six times. He connected on two of five passes for 17 yards in his collegiate debut against Southwest Missouri State. He was called into action against South Carolina after starter Robby Hampton was knocked out of the game. He completed seven of 12 passes for 79 yards before leaving the game with a high ankle sprain. He struggled with the nagging injury for the rest of the season. His most extensive playing time came against Ole Miss. He completed 14 of 29 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown in his start against the Rebels. 1999: After signing with the Hogs in February, he didn’t enroll as a full-time student in the fall since the Razorbacks were short of scholarships. He enrolled full-time in January. He became eligible at the conclusion of the first semester and was able to participate in HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: He passed for a school record 6,177 yards during his career, hitting 442 of his 851 passes. He threw for 58 touchdowns. He passed for 492 yards in a game against El Dorado, a state record at the time. In his senior season, he completed 198 of 361 attempts for 2,360 yards and 21 touchdowns. Twice he was named allstate. He was high on several recruiting lists, including Pigskin Preps, which named him the 11th-best passing quarterback in the entire SEC area. Coached by Mike Adams, he led his teams to records of 8-5, 8-3 and 5-5. He also was a two-time all-state selection in baseball as a shortstop. He picked Arkansas over New Mexico. He has excellent leadership skills, as well.” He came to Arkansas “for the chance to play in the SEC and PERSONAL: Born July 30, 1980, he is the son of Doug and Carol Clark. His father has been an assistant baseball coach at Arkansas for 24 years after playing professionally in the Cardinals, Royals and Athletics minor league systems. His brother, Cody, is a sophomore on the Razorback baseball team. He is enrolled in the College of Education and Health Professions and is majoring in business education.
