August 2005 - After two years as an alternate safety and special teams player, Ellerd moved to receiver during the spring…He’d been an outstanding receiver in high school, and will give the quarterbacks a tall target at his new position…He used his height and 30-inch vertical jump to block two field goals and an extra point his freshman year and also knocked down a field goal attempt last fall... Participated in six tackles while playing on special teams as a freshman and seven last year...A three-year defensive starter in high school, he earned all-state laurels at outside linebacker as a junior…He also was a second-team all-state wide receiver as a senior and all-conference in basketball three years…He was the Northern Plains League’s most valuable basketball player his senior season...In addition, he placed in the long jump at the state track meet…
