OUTLOOK: He moved from the secondary to linebacker last year and emerged by playing in all 13 games and making six starts. He will be counted on for even more this year on the field and as a defensive leader. Entering fall camp, the senior is listed as the starter at strong side linebacker and the backup to sophomore Ryan Powers at weak side linebacker. In the second spring scrimmage, he recorded a team-high 10 tackles with a four-yard sack. He had one tackle, a solo stop, in the Red-White Spring Game. Since changing positions, he has increased his size and strength from 207 pounds to 219. 2007: Forte played in all 13 games with six starts at the will linebacker spot against Chattanooga, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida International, South Carolina and LSU. He had 51 tackles to rank 11th on the team, but all of his tackles came in a nine-game stretch from the Kentucky contest through the Mississippi State game. He also added 2.5 TFL (-12), two forced fumbles and three quarterback hurries. Forte combined to log 28 tackles vs. Auburn, Ole Miss and FIU, including 13 solo stops. – He played four snaps at linebacker in the season opener against Troy, but did not record any statistics. Forte played but did not record a tackle at Alabama. Forte made six tackles vs. UK with a half of a TFL in 18 plays. He played 36 snaps vs. North Texas, which was the most of any linebacker, and had eight tackles, a TFL, two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. Forte made five tackles in his hometown of Little Rock in the Hogs’ 34-15 win over Chattanooga. Forte made a career-high 14 tackles vs. Auburn with six solo stops from his linebacker spot. He made eight more tackles at Ole Miss with five assisted stops. Forte made six tackles in 32 snaps vs. FIU. He also notched a TFL (-7), forced his second fumble of the season and had a quarterback hurry. Forte had three tackles on 41 snaps vs. South Carolina, including two solo stops. He played on special teams but did not make a tackle at Tennessee. Forte saw limited action with 25 snaps, making one tackle as the Hogs employed a 5-2 defense for a big part of the game. Forte started in the win at No. 1 LSU, but did not register a tackle. He played against Missouri in the Cotton Bowl, but did not record a tackle. 2006: He played primarily on special teams, but appeared in all 14 games and did earn some time at strong safety backing Randy Kelly. He made 14 tackles, including six solo stops. He tallied at least one tackle in seven of 14 outings. Six of his 14 tackles came on special teams. He ranked tied for fifth on the squad in special teams stops. He also earned the second interception of his career and returned in 15 yards against Southeast Missouri State. – He recorded two solo stops against Southern California and an unassisted tackle and two assists against Utah State. He played at Vanderbilt but did not record any statistics. Forte notched a season-high four stops, two solo, on 20 defensive snaps against Alabama. He recorded an assisted tackle on special teams while playing nine snaps as a reserve free safety at then-No. 2 Auburn. Forte played a career-high 36 snaps, recording two assisted tackles and notching his second career interception, vs. Southeast Missouri State. He returned the pick 15 yards to set up an Arkansas touchdown on the ensuing offensive drive. He played two snaps against Ole Miss, but did not make a tackle. Forte saw action on special teams against ULM, but did not make a tackle. He saw time on special teams and as a reserve on the defensive side of the football against South Carolina. He made one tackle on special teams in the win over the Gamecocks. Forte logged time on special teams in the Hogs’ 31-14 win over No. 13 Tennessee. He continued his play on special teams, but did not record any tackles in games against Mississippi State, LSU and Florida in the SEC Championship Game. He did make a solo stop in the season finale against No. 7 Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl. 2005: He played in 10 of 11 games as a freshman, seeing time on special teams and in a reserve role in the secondary. He appeared in every game except the Hogs’ Homecoming match-up with South Carolina. He made five tackles on the season, including three solo stops. Two of his five tackles came on special teams. He was a regular on the kickoff and kickoff return units. He also snared his first career interception and returned it 27 yards against Louisiana-Monroe. – He appeared in the first four games of the season, but earned his first career tackles in the Razorbacks’ non-conference win over Louisiana-Monroe. He made two solo stops and returned an interception 27 yards in the victory. He made one assisted stop against No. 4 Georgia and earned one solo and one assisted tackle against No. 3 LSU in the Hogs’ season finale. HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: As a senior, he split time between running back, wide receiver and safety, earning Class 4A all-state honors for Coach James Withrow at Mills. He was also named to The Associated Press Super Team. He rushed for 600 yards and 13 touchdowns in his senior season. He also racked up 300 yards and two scores receiving. Defensively, he made 55 tackles, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He participated in the Max Emfinger All-American All-Star Game in Shreveport, La. In his junior season, he racked up 46 tackles, three interceptions and two pass break-ups. He tallied 12 rushing touchdowns as a junior. He also averaged nearly 50 yards per kickoff return. He spent time at free safety, tailback, and kickoff and punt returner. He played basketball through his junior season. He led his squad to a 22-5 mark as a junior. Rivals rated him as the No. 26 safety in the nation and the No. 4 overall player in Arkansas. He was a member of the Mobile Press Register’s Super Southeast 120. He participated in the 2005 Arkansas High School All-Star Game at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. He chose Arkansas over Oklahoma State, Iowa, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Penn State and Memphis. PERSONAL: Born Oct. 28, 1987, he is the son of Elston and Pearlie Forte.
